I want to thank each and every one of you from the bottom of my heart for standing beside me and Rio through this incredibly emotional and difficult journey. Your signatures, messages, and compassion have meant more than I can express.

I want to be transparent with you about where things now stand.

In the beginning, I hoped to raise awareness about the broader challenges in Australia’s import policy for companion birds, especially for people like me trying to do the right thing, transparently and responsibly.

But over time, it’s become clear that pursuing widespread policy change may take years and involve complex processes far beyond my reach. That is no longer my goal.

Instead, my focus is now on a single, compassionate request to Bring Rio home.

I am formally preparing a detailed submission for Ministerial discretion under the Biosecurity Act 2015 (Cth). This is not about changing national policy, it’s about asking for a humane exception in one rare, well-documented case. I am fully committed to meeting every biosecurity requirement, including supervised quarantine, disease testing, and any safeguard authorities deem necessary.

Your continued support helps show that compassion matters, and that Australians care about the emotional welfare of both people and the animals they love.
