Our son Nicholas is 10 years old and attends a primary school in Frankfurt, Germany. For over a year, he has been subjected to systematic exclusion, special restrictions, and limitations that stigmatize and emotionally burden him.

• From the start, he received only limited instruction — 50% less than other children.
• He was not allowed to participate in school activities, such as the overnight stay in the gym.
• Now, he is to be excluded from the class trip.
• And: He is only allowed to enter the schoolyard if accompanied by his support assistant.

These measures have nothing to do with educational care — they are discriminatory, degrading, and violate his right to education, participation, and dignity. 

We demand: 

• That Nicholas be allowed to join the class trip immediately and unconditionally.
• That he be free to move about the schoolyard like any other child.
• That all discriminatory special rules be lifted. 

This case is representative of many children in Germany who are systematically disadvantaged  because of their background, language, social situation, or special needs. We say: Enough is enough.
