I wanted to thank each of you for supporting the effort to allow all of Missouri's public universities to offer PhDs and other doctorates. 

Yesterday the governor signed bills that allow Missouri State to offer any PhD except one in engineering. An exception to the ban (on any public university outside the University of Missouri system offering PhDs) has been won, as Springfield lawmakers and MSU leaders and alumni fought for their interests, negotiated with Mizzou and Columbia reps, and so on.

But that still leaves 8 public universities banned from offering PhDs and other doctorates. Further, Mizzou's monopoly on dentistry, law, medicine, optometry, engineering, and pharmacy doctorates remains intact (neither MSU nor the 8 other disadvantaged schools can offer these).  

I hope future battles and future legislation will address these problems. Progress has been made, but much unfairness remains. Please keep contacting Missouri legislators about these issues.
