Hi everyone,

A few updates. Our story has been published by the LA Times (LA Times Article) and the Long Beach Press-Telegram (LBPT Article). We also made a statement during the public comments portion of the CSU Board of Trustees meeting on March 21st (you can watch the recording on our Instagram, @letcsulb23walk).

On March 22nd, graduates received an announcement from a no-reply email denying us our right to walk. Part of the email reads:

"We want to let you know...we are continuing with our existing plans, which do not include name-reading at the main ceremony." You can read the full message from the university on our Instagram.

The email screenshot pictured above is from the president of CSULB, Dr. Jane Close Conoley, in response to my request for a meeting (which you can also find on our IG). To this day, CSULB administrators refuse to meet with us, and have not even responded to any other emails from myself or from other students.

It seems like not only are students not being heard, but we are actually being ignored. This is why we have decided to hold a protest on campus.

The protest takes place tomorrow, April 4th, 2023 at 11am. We will be located between Brotman Hall and the GO BEACH sign. We have confirmed that there is going to be media coverage of this protest. If you can, please come support us tomorrow. We need help being heard.

Thank you all so much for signing this petition and showing your support for our cause. We're not giving up any time soon.
