Petition Update- Bob And Darkie By Jeremy Holtom, Music Producer In the past two months I have become aware of the plight of Bob Harvey and his dog Darkie. Bob is 87 years old, he has dialysis three times a week, he’s grieving for his dead wife of more than 50 years. He has a legal tenancy and he chose and was promised by the previous management of Burnfoot Hall that he had a place for life. In recent weeks I have made a number of videos about Bob and Darkie that have attracted many thousands of views and almost 100% support in the form of large numbers of likes and comments. I have dug into the case. I have found out the facts. I am disgusted not only that this is happening to an 87-year-old but that this petition has not got 100 million signatures on it. I am not surprised that he is becoming sick of it, that he is thinking of throwing in the towel but he shouldn’t because he is fighting for all of us, for the kind of country we want to live in. The kind of country that many of our forefathers fought and died for to stop exactly this sort of thing from happening. A few weeks ago I wrote to the leaders of the main parties and to the First Minister of Scotland. They know that almost 300,000 people have signed this petition and yet to today a minor bureaucrat wrote a drivelling reply. That’s the only one of these grand and very important people who has bothered to reply. If these people, our so-called leaders cannot take 300,000 people seriously how many will it take to get them to listen? I have risked everything I have ever made to follow my dream and become the person I was born to be. I have fought off bailiffs and today I was supposed to be in court to fight off for the eighth time being evicted from my home, a home I have lived in for 32 years, that I took a huge risk to buy and for which I have fought because it is my heart, and the heart of everything I do and create. Someone came forward yesterday and fixed it as they will for Bob and Darkie if we set this petition alight. Burntfoot Hall is Bob’s home, its the last place he was with his wife. If he leaves it will kill him and when it does newspapers instead of printing a story on the front pages will put a foot note to a brave man who stood up against a terrible injustice at 87 when so many gave up years ago. Wake Up!! This world can and will change. I am the Grandson of The Designer Of The Peace Symbol who was imprisoned in the war for his beliefs and went on as one man to help inspire the entire world. My Father died of cancer in 1984 at the age of 48. He was lied to and found out by a mistake that he was terminally ill. He chose not to seek money but to bring one of the very first private prosecutions ever against the Doctor who thought he was entitled to play God. A very different media to the spineless people who are scared to report on a dog because he is called Darkie today, chose to make it into a worldwide story. It hastened his death and he died before it came to court but the huge ripples it started led to us ALL having the right to see out medical records. There is much more I could write about the many times I have stood up against a system that I do not want to bring down but I want it to to start to care and I want it to take responsibility for the disgraceful mess it has got us into. That starts by raising the target for this petition to the sky. It starts by large numbers of people writing to Bob, turning off the television and writing letters of support from the heart as happened to my Father in his case who received sack loads of mail from around the world. It is time to stop pussyfooting around and changing the name of Darkie to Darcie because the name of a dark dog might offend some fool or other. I will start it so this is what I will do. I urge Bob to stay and if this should ever get to court and he should lose his home well he and Darkie can come and live with us as a family for much less than he pays to the greedy people who have quite shamelessly increased his rent in two years from £5,000 a year to £15,000 for what is in fact a bedsit in a beautiful place. I have a song produced by me and Nick Tauber who produced a whole lot of Number One hits in the 1980’s. We run a record company and there are alot of people who are entitled to a share of it but its time for us to all get that money is to be shared and that those that have it need to start using it to make the world a better place not continue hoarding ever more of it. If the petition passes a million signatures well I will release it and I promise Bob that he and Darkie will receive 25% of the net sales for life. The rest will be split between our record company and all those, including me, who have helped to create an amazing song with an amazing and inspiring message called Free Your Heart. Its time to start freeing the heart of the world as John Lennon and The Beatles started to do before an insane fan shot him. So that’s it. Its upto you. The world is teetering on the edges of a world war in case you hadn’t noticed. Peace is found by standing up before the first shot is fired. By taking self-interest out of everything, speaking out and telling the people who lead us when they are not working for us and remind them that they do. Here is a link to Free Your Heart.
