In addition, it provides residential care, offering young people the chance to experience staying away from home and take part in activities that promote independence and increase self-confidence such as cooking washing pots, making beds, using washing machines and much more on average 24 pupils stay a night however, Leicestershire County Council is proposing to close the residential facility from September 2018 in a bid to make an annual saving of £293.000 “There appears to have been no attempt to consider alternative funding sources and for these already disadvantaged children and their families, this will be a severe blow. It would be a shame to lose this for our most vulnerable young people and their families. aswel as helping pupils, it offers respite care to those who need it the council should be looking after its most vulnerable in the community.
