Recent News on Leicester
There have been discussions as to whether Leicester will be UK's first city to have a localised lockdown. Different government officials have slightly differing views regarding the necessity and urgency with which a lockdown may happen and at the moment, time is needed for further analysis of data to be done this weekend. Details here.
Irrespective of that, we the public have to be extra cautious, mindful of what we may accidentally end up touching and maintain that social distance of 2 metres.
It is worth keeping in mind that covid-19 isn't just a case of a "bad flu". It has unfortunately taken the lives of many, impacted people's health with different levels of severity and thus even the recovering period has been different for them. It has ended up leaving individuals with new long term health issues to deal with going forward. Also, not to forget the impact on mental health of those directly and indirectly affected by it.
It has been different levels of difficulty for everyone. There are companies out there who do need the social distancing rule to be relaxed to even have a chance at opening up so the "1 metre plus" rule of social distancing would be a welcomed, much awaited change. However, given the current situation in Leicester it is necessary that this rule is postponed for now.
There are also companies out there, albeit few, who have decided to continue to maintain a 2 metre social distance in the work place despite the govt. announcement so that their employees and customers can have a certain peace of mind and feeling of safety. But we as the public should also be mindful of those around us as well as continue to follow other health advice previously given so we are doing our best to stay as safe as possible.
Please share if you believe that relaxing the social distancing rule in Leicester should be postponed until new data suggests otherwise.
