Save and Protect Blue Spring Woods from development

The Issue

Kitchener is a fast growing city and many farm fields and forested areas have already been used for development.  Stanley Park is one of the areas that has expanded drastically in recent years, and little forest is left protected.

Blue Spring Woods is located near the Grand River, and was a popular place to swim in the 1950’s but was eventually closed. It is now home to hundreds of species of flora and fauna, as well as many animals; some of which are rare in Kitchener.  Animals have used this unique landscape of woods, and natural spring to live for decades. Locals have the wonderful experience throughout the ever changing seasons to see reptiles, birds and beautiful flowers flourish, and recently beavers have moved in to make their home.

Sandra Springs development has been in the works for years, and is now in the final stages to approve even more of Blue Spring Woods for real estate. I want to stop this process and revoke the previous approval to completely cover the pond/spring and cut down the majority of Blue Spring forest for development.

Now is our time to make a difference in Kitchener, to save and protect this land for us and future generations that will call Kitchener home.

The more people who sign the petition the better chance we have to save this forest and show the CIty of Kitchener officials that we want this land protected.
