Legalize the Sale of Raw Milk in Scotland

Legalize the Sale of Raw Milk in Scotland
The Issue
The choice of buying raw milk—a simple but essential liberty in many parts of the UK—has been denied to the people of Scotland. As a concerned Scottish citizen, I'm frustrated by the additives routinely injected into our food supply, many of which we do not need. When it comes to milk, some dairy cows are being fed with Bovaer—an additive aimed to reduce their methane emissions. The potential long-term effects on human health are yet to be clearly established, even as farmers are required to use full personal protective equipment when handling this additive. The option of consuming raw, unadulterated milk has been stripped away from us.
Raw milk, a staple that our ancestors commonly consumed, is a bolstering symbol of our cultural heritage and a personal choice of countless consumers beyond our borders. While the concerns about food safety are valid and important, transparent regulation can address these fears without depriving us of our right to choose.
Across the UK, consumers can choose whether they prefer their milk pasteurized or raw, yet in Scotland, adulthood has not been accompanied by this privilege. This is not a call for recklessness but for the Scottish people to be treated with the autonomy deserved. We demand a review of the legislations and want to urge the Scottish government to legalize the sale of raw milk, promoting consumer education and stringent health and safety guidelines in the process.
Join me in presenting this plea for the choice of raw milk to be returned to the people of Scotland. Sign the petition and let our collective voice echo stronger. Your support could reform our food system and restore the fundamental right to choose what we consume.
