
When Councilmember Keith Powers introduced Int. 1471 in November, it was the first legislation in NYC history aimed at protecting bodega cats. That happened because 13,500 of you signed this petition.
Now Keith Powers is term-limited, so the bill needs a new prime sponsor to keep moving. I've been in contact with all five co-sponsors. Councilmember Frank Morano from Staten Island has volunteered to take over. That means bipartisan support for the first time.
The bill is still in committee. The fight continues. But we have a path forward.
