Thank you to everyone who signed the petition, contacted commissioners, and attended tonight’s meeting. The Casselberry City Commission in discussion tonight expressed support for moving forward with a pilot program that would allow: • Up to 6 hens • No roosters • Coops under 100 square feet • A limited free online permit process • Completion of the UF/IFAS Backyard Chicken Course Staff will now prepare the full resolution language, which is expected to come back before the Commission in August. Additionally, no enforcement action will be taken against residents with backyard hens while the program is in development. This is an important step toward a practical, balanced policy that supports responsible backyard chicken keeping while addressing neighborhood concerns. We appreciate the staff’s expeditious attention in preparing the research and the Commission’s willingness to pursue a win-win solution for residents and look forward to reviewing the final language in August.
