At Monday night’s Commission meeting, the Casselberry City Commission unanimously agreed to direct staff to draft a backyard hen ordinance for consideration and withhold enforcement action during the review. This is a major step forward and would not have happened without the support of residents like you who signed the petition, submitted comments, and helped raise awareness about this issue. While this is not the final approval, it means the City is officially moving forward with creating a framework that would allow residents to keep hens in Casselberry. Staff will now work on drafting the ordinance, which will come back before the Commission for review and public discussion at a future meeting. We encourage everyone to stay engaged throughout the process. Your continued support will help ensure the final ordinance is fair, reasonable, and reflects the needs of our community. Thank you for being part of this effort. Together, we’ve taken an important step toward expanding self-sufficiency, responsible animal stewardship, and property rights for Casselberry residents. We will continue to provide updates as the ordinance moves forward. If you know other Casselberry residents who support this effort, please encourage them to follow future updates and participate when the ordinance comes back before the Commission.
