Greetings in the name of the Most High,
I think it is clear to all that decriminalisation is not enough. The amendments to the Dangerous Drugs Act (2019) permit only 30g of ganja per adult at any point in time. One tree can produce up to 2lbs. The law is unclear and imprecise and has led to dozens of otherwise law-abiding citizens being arrested - in their homes - and fined and/or imprisoned for as little as 75g. This is madness.
Meanwhile the Cannabis Control Bill remains stalled in the hands of a Joint Select Committee, chaired by the very same person who drafted this unjust and discriminatory piece of legislation, Attorney-General Faris Al Rawi. It has been a year and five months since this bill was handed to the JSC. Their last extension was until March 31. Still no word.
As such I am campaigning - once again - for the government to get on with the people's business. Legislate so we can cultivate!!!!
