I'm Not Feeling the Love at One Love!

The world's largest Reggae Festival OneLove is on this weekend and Festival Promoter Pato Alvarez says he will evict anyone inside who starts inviting folks to sign the Petition. I don't think he meant it as fair go I did just drop a bomb on him. There will be 25,000 peace and weed loving Reggae Lovers wandering around my neighbourhood this weekend who are going to want to sign this Petition. If they know about it. I asked Pato to put a link to it on his home page and to allow myself and a small crew to set up a wee Marque and take signatures. I also said to him that I could get 20,000 signatures in a matter of hours and put this petition on the map. That we will break the internet. I pointed out that the petition names polling day as the 26th of January 2019 which is Auckland Anniversary long weekend and the first day of next year's One Love Festival. I told him he would sell out next year's One Love this weekend and make NZ history doing it! So just a bit much really. I said I can get worldwide media this weekend and I reckon I can but I did not get a chance to explain how which was probably a good thing as I think this next bit will throw him for another loop when he hears it! I want to make the signature signing part of the evening's performance, a part of the ceremony. I think it's not a silly ask of these folks to think that if every so inclined performer playing this weekend sends out the Petition to their "followers" and asks those folks to join the live stream when we put the ticker up on the big screen and to sign it all at one...well it just might be magic! Worth a crack I reckon. Anyway, Pato, nice hard working bloke whose got this festival happening, a Chilean Kiwi... (even back home before he knew it I hear) doesn't really need something like this four days out from the festival and who hasn't had a fair chance to consider and to consult on this said nope to a link on his homepage or access to me and a few to run the petition. Pato talked police concerns council relationships etc, all of usual and reasonable concerns you would expect to worry a successful Promoter! He needs reassurance. I'm going to call the Mayor and ask him to reassure Pato that this is freedom of political expression and nothing to worry about...and in the meantime track down a few of the players we can expect this weekend asking them to put in a good word. And if you can put in a good word please do.
