HGV restrictions on A659 inc Collingham, Harewood, Arthington and Pool in Wharfedale

The Issue

Leeds City Council should bring forward plans to restrict HGVs using the A659 between Collingham, Harewood, Arthington and Pool-in-Wharfedale. Residents are growing increasingly concerned that HGVs are using this route as "rat run" or "short cut" rather than using the upgraded A1 as was intended. The A659 is a narrow road with many difficult bends and junctions that were never intended to cater for HGV traffic making the route difficult for motorists and cyclists. The current situation sits contrary to the Council's declared "Climate Emergency" resolution from March 2019 and isn't in line with the ambitions of Leeds City Council to improve air quality.
