The LDS Church asked its members to vote no and a majority may have indeed voted no. The most disturbing part is that members who may have voted “Yes” for PROP 2 had to choose between doing what they were asked by their spiritual leaders and their own personal view on the matter. Doing as the Church asks of you is a huge part of being a faithful LDS member in good standing and my heart goes out to those who felt obligated to serve the church by fulfilling its request to vote No, even though they wanted to vote yes. This is why organized religion should not ever be allowed to meddle in politics. The Church forced their members into a tight spot and strong armed them to serve their own agenda, the LDS Church has done nothing to understand or support their own members or the people of Utah. That’s why signing and sharing this petition is so important.
