We created this petition to show support that people are wiling to bring their own cups to bars to help to eliminate single use plastics in Gainesville, FL. 500 billion disposable cups are thrown away every year and by bringing a reusable cup with you when you go out, you could be part of the solution towards a zero waste world. Single use plastics often don't make it to landfills and will end up in our oceans, land, and waterways, creating pollution and harming wildlife.  Even when single-use plastics are sent to landfills (there are 3,091 active landfills in the U.S. alone), they aren’t harmless. Landfill liners can leak harmful pollutants into the watershed and plastics on the tops of landfills can be carried away by the wind. The best way to curb single-use plastic pollution is to stop using them! Join the movement and sign our petition and hopefully we'll see you at Econight!
