This is a HUGE announcement !

Today's announcement from the Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Federal Environment Minister Tanya Plibersek will provide wholistic state wide benefits to our inshore fisheries in the Great Barrier Reef and the Gulf of Carpentaria. 

This decision also supports the removal of commercial netting from other high ecological value areas like throughout the red-cross hatched Yellow Conservation Zones across the Great Sandy Marine Park ( Designated Great Sandy Area ) AND will remove N2 barra nets from the entire state - which obviously includes the Mary River !
