Great Sandy Marine Park - Protect Our Region’s, Ocean Jewel!
The Queensland Government is reviewing the rules for the Great Sandy Marine Park - our playground for fishing, boating, and the key to our coast’s nature tourism future.
Our stunning coastline and its whales, dolphins, dugongs, seabirds, and fish draw tourists from around Australia and the world. But just 4% of the marine park actually gives our wildlife the protection they need.
We want the Queensland government to:-
• Remove commercial gillnets from conservation areas so our fish stocks can recover and to protect threatened species like turtles and dugong.
• Increase marine national park zones to protect habitats and let our fish and wildlife thrive.
Please email Meaghan @ environment@ministerial.qld.gov.au
&
Annastacia Palaszczuk MP @ thepremier@premiers.qld.gov.au
NOW and let them know the “anomaly” that is the “Designated Great Sandy Area” must be removed without exception under the current full-term review of our Great Sandy Marine Park due to be finalised by the end of this year!
