As you may have heard, the motion passed in today's House of Common's session. Sadly, thousands of your fellow Canadians who are exercising their right to free speech and peaceful protest have been condemned by our government. The positive news is that, because of you, 12 MPs abstained from voting and 51 members of the House of Commons voted against the motion! Take a moment and find your MP in the link: http://www.parl.gc.ca/HouseChamberBusiness/ChamberVoteDetail.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&Parl=42&Ses=1&FltrParl=42&FltrSes=1&Vote=14 If they voted for the motion, email them and let them know about your disappointment. If they voted against, or if you do not find them in the list - meaning they abstained from voting - email them and thank them for doing the right thing. Letting our MPs know how we feel can influence how they vote and see these issues in the future. Remember, democracy is more than just voting at election time. A little effort on all of our parts can go a long way in changing the views of our MPs on these issues. Thank you all for speaking up and making your voice heard! Since the vote has occurred, I am going to close this petition.
