Allow pet owners to claim pet expenses on our income tax forms

Allow pet owners to claim pet expenses on our income tax forms
The Issue
As a pet owner I have found that the cost of keeping and maintaining the health and well being of our pets has become a necessary expense that is also taxable. These expenses are not tax free. Pets are considered family for a lot of people and the reason for this petition is, If we can claim our family and spouses, Why can't we claim our pets as well. Pet owners in Ontario should be able to claim costs on income tax for pet ownership.
Veterinarian bills, from simple routine visits to major surgical procedures, can be extremely high, yet we are not able to claim these substantial costs on our tax returns.
It's time this changed! We pay taxes on vet bills, pet boarding and grooming, pet foods, medications, flea treatments, insulin for diabetic pets,
specialty foods for those pets who require special diets or for senior pets. Some pets also require special items such as wheel-chairs.
Why is it we can't claim these costs? The government won't provide Ontarians any form of a health plan for our animals,
they should at least allow us to claim these costs on our tax returns. This is the reason for this petition.
I'm trying to get as many signatures as I possibly can, so I can send this to the government to advocate on behalf of pet owners across Ontario,
to allow pet owners to claim pet expenses on our income tax forms, because our pets are part of our family, so why shouldn't we be able to claim their expenses too?
So join me in my quest, and let's try to make this change happen!
