LBWF PETITION FOR A FULL COUNCIL MEETING

LBWF PETITION FOR A FULL COUNCIL MEETING
The Issue
We the undersigned request a full Council meeting to present the impact of the LTN traffic schemes on the borough, residents, and environment.
We request a full council agreement to administer a paper poll of every business/resident asking a clear YES or NO question –
DO YOU PREFER THE BOROUGH BEFORE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SAID SCHEMES?
The essence of our objection is that:
As LBWF residents, we object to the way that Waltham Forest LTN traffic schemes have been implemented and evaluated. Whilst we fully support the overarching objective of reducing congestion, we believe the council have NOT been transparent and open in assessing the true long-term impact of these schemes since implementation. There has been no formal follow up consultation or long-term evaluation on the effectiveness of these schemes.
We deem this to be undemocratic, non-transparent, and a failure of the Council to serve the community responsibly. We believe this lack of transparency has created much division and anger in residents over the true benefits.
In the interests of democracy, now that more than 70 closures have had time to “bed in”, everyone in the borough should get to express their opinion based on verified facts and personal experiences. Therefore, we are asking for a clear, fair well-publicised paper poll of every business/resident to find out how they feel.
The requisite number of signatures are 3,000. Please sign if you have an opinion.
