Despite overwhelming community opposition, the historic Green Point Savings Bank on Washington Ave will be demolished to make way for a fourteen-story, luxury condo in a manner of days. Now is the time to show our faces, and tell big business and the agents of gentrification that we as a community are united in protecting what makes our home special. We'll be gathering by the Brooklyn Museum musical fountain this Sunday, March 20th, and then will head over at 11:00am to form a picket line on the sidewalk in front of the bank from 11:00am until 1:00pm If we keep a few volunteers up by Eastern Parkway, we can also direct community members back to the protest, hand out flyers, or hold signs to raise awareness.
