Facing three, Carruthers drew to the four-foot to score one in the first. Gushue matched with a point in the second. Carruthers blanked the third and settled for one in four. Gushue made a triple to count two in the fifth and briefly took the lead. Carruthers added another single in six to knot it up and stole a point in seven on a close measurement when Gushue’s final stone wrecked.Elsewhere in men’s Tier 1 action, Toronto’s John Epping scored a deuce in the sixth to grab a 4-3 lead against Calgary’s Kevin Koe, who holds the hammer coming home. Tour Challenge: Live Scoring & StandingsIn the women’s Tier 1 division, Kelsey Rocque was victorious in her Pinty’s GSOC debut with a 9-4 win in six ends over Val Sweeting in an all-Edmonton rink match. Rocque broke open a 1-1 tie with a four-ender in the third and added a steal of one in the fourth to lead by five. Sweeting got a three-ender in the fifth to narrow the gap but Rocque matched with a trey of her own in six to bring out the handshakes.
