Nationwide Building Society to open a branch in Glastonbury

It was inevitable really. When Nationwide said they would consider opening a branch in Glastonbury, they said they would need a commitment from 300 people. In the end they has over 1200. They were able to tap into the demand for banking services in the town following the bolting of the last of the traditional High Street banks earlier this year. A huge thank you to everybody involved in the campaign, and that means you. I do not believe that I would have been writing the headline if we had not had such a vociferous campaign, and the petition was a major part of that.
