Thomas Kurian - President, Product Development, Oracle - has shared a few more details on the company's plans for Java EE 8: http://www.infoworld.com/article/3098007/java/oracle-to-reboot-java-ee-for-the-cloud.html. Although the details are still very vague it appears Oracle is planning to significantly shift the scope of Java EE 8. This may be problematic as the scope of Java EE 8 was determined carefully through one of the largest community surveys done in the history of Java. On the other hand there may be merit to Oracle’s apparent desire to shift the focus of Java EE 8.
The best way to determine the right thing to do is by listening carefully to what you would like to see from Java EE 8. Please consider doing your part to keep Java strong by donating a few minutes to complete this community-driven survey on Java EE 8: http://www.surveygizmo.com/s3/2956644/d583322208d1. Please also consider helping get the word out on the survey.
The survey is a joint effort between DZone and the Java EE Guardians. The Java EE Guardians will ensure Oracle is aware of the results of this survey using every possible legitimate feedback avenue. Regardless of Oracle’s actions the survey will also help guide the Java EE Guardians, DZone, and Java developers in general on where to focus community effort. You can track the results of the survey either through DZone or the Java EE Guardians.
We want to remind everyone that it is very important to continue to sign our petition and encourage others to do the same. A strong show of support will ensure things keep moving in the right direction for all of us.
Above, all thank you so much for your continued support.
