Dear Kiren Rijiju Ji PMO-India & the honorable Supreme Court.
I have been reading with interest articles like this – Indian judges concerned as government seeks bigger role in judicial appointments
Here is one family's story at the receiving end when bureaucrats act as Judge, Jury and enforcer.
- My ex-serviceman father had pruchased a land in north Bengaluru. The registration is pending for 25 Years due to some bureaucratic delay.
- I took the matter to Karnataka High Court. The Honorable High Court ordered Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner to review within 6 months (Writ Petition order for 46964 of 2017
- In Karnataka, the Deputy Commissioner is responsible for “revenue court” under him. Officials of Bengaluru Urban DC revenue court haven't acted on the High Court order for 5 years
- My case posted for order over 2-years ago after written arguments by my lawyer but there has been no action in DC "Revenue Court"
- In the meantime, Bengaluru Urban Deputy Commissioner J Manjunath, IAS and his "revenue court" officials were arrested for allegedly accepting bribes of 5-lakh rupees for a case similar to mine (Times of India)
- The officials and bureaucrats act as Judge, Jury and enforcer in DC Revenue Courts. We need to ensure checks-and-balances when bureaucrats act as Judge, Jury and enforcer!
Please consider the human implications of proposal to shake up independence of Indian Judiciary.
