Friends, While we wait for the County to work through their process in the 6-month zoning moratorium period, a lot has been happening behind the scenes. 1. The KC Department of Permitting has completed their study of the zoning and has made a recommendation that is not in our favor. 2. The Greater Maple Valley Unincorporated Area Council has responded with a truly outstanding argument in our favor. 3. Meetings with the community and various other local area councils have been taking place. To put it simply: the work is not over. We are still in this fight. It is perhaps a bigger fight now more than ever. We have 2 short months until the moratorium expires. Don’t stop now! Keep writing emails and calling each of the King County a council members individually asking them to uphold the moratorium and to rezone the proposed asphalt plant Lot location to rural residential as it should be. The community has decided to move forward with hiring legal representation. The committee is finalizing details this week for this part of our effort. Those details will be communicated as soon as they are ready. At the community meeting one neighbor said that we want to make sure the King County Council and Lakeside Industries knows that we are not going anywhere, we are in this for the long haul. Stay in it!
