Allow mortarboards (Graduation hats) to be worn at future University of Leeds ceremonies.

The Issue

At the University of Leeds students are currently not allowed to graduate with mortarboards due to what was thought to be health and safety reasons, however is actually due to when the university used to be a technology collage and only allowed male graduates to graduate with mortarboards, the decision was taken to remove mortarboards entirely which I think is extremely dishonourable and one-sided.

I believe all students should be given the opportunity to graduate wearing a mortarboard regardless of gender.

As a current student at the University of Leeds I feel very strongly towards this change and I aim to get as many signatures as possible in progression to allow mortarboards to be provided and worn throughout future graduation ceremonies.

Thank you.
