President Lemons sent a letter to several students on March 1st. He made no commitments to achieve any of the changes outlined in the #ConcernedStudent1964 letter. He hinted that an Africana Studies Department might be in the works and he announced a plan to hire temporary faculty as part of a new African American Visiting Scholars Program thus formalizing the revolving door of African American faculty at Susquehanna. Lemons said, "increasing the number of underrepresented groups has been a strategic priority for more than 30 years." And that SU has nearly tripled the percentage of students of color. Yet latest statistics show that SU student population is 84.1% white and 5.4% Black/AA. That "strategic priority" must not be much of a priority.
