📢 Calling All Residents of San Bernardino County: Apple Valley, Big Bear Valley, and the Inland Empire! Our abandoned animals need your help at the Apple Valley City Hall. Let's save their lives together!
Join us on Tuesday, July 22, at 6:30 PM at the City of Apple Valley City Hall to put an end to the Apple Valley NIGHTMARE that has already cost thousands of cats and dogs their lives.
Did you know that about 60% of the animals in the Apple Valley shelter are not from Apple Valley but from **San Bernardino County**, the largest county in the U.S.? Sixteen years ago, I received a call for fundraising support to establish this facility, promising it would help manage many dogs and cats within our county. Today, that vision seems to have been lost.
📉 Here are some alarming facts:
- The shelter operates with limited hours and offers almost no medical care for the animals.
- There’s only **$6000** allocated for pet food for thousands of animals.
- The medical budget is less than **$12000**.
- The shelter receives over **$1,000,000** annually to care for our animals.
- It has one of the highest rates of **distemper** and **Parvo** in the region.
- **Nearly 90% of the cats** entering the facility are euthanized monthly, and thousands of dogs face the same fate.
This facility has unfortunately become a **killing machine**, and it's clear that we need change. The **Big Bear Animal Shelter**, which is also managed by the county, is a shining example of what a compassionate facility can achieve with open hours and a commitment to community collaboration. The Devore Animal Shelter, also County run, provides essential medical care and spay/neuter services for animals, rather than sending new pet owners out to handle it themselves or simply killing them.
It’s time for the city of Apple Valley to sell this facility to the county. With improved funding and a solid track record in animal welfare, the county could upgrade this facility, saving lives and ensure our pets receive the compassionate care they deserve.
