I just watched the community Townhall which so far has 63 views on YouTube. I liked the presentation. It was mindful and seemed solutions oriented. It is possibly a good start in a better direction. Also, they are now mentioning the acceptance of WALK-UP appointments. A group of those who have signed this petition and me will be verifying their claims this week and next.

I hope this works for all of us (mostly our animals).

I have two major concerns after watching the video...

1) They did not mention once any type of budget or protocol addressing MARKETING/PUBLIC RELATIONS/ADVERTISING this NEW program which restricts unfettered access by networkers and the general public. My gut response tells me that this is such a HIGHLY MANAGED SYSTEM that unless you've got millions of dollars promoting the animals in this "hands-off" system, people won't show up.

2) Over the last 10 years, animal pounds have been killing fewer animals because animal networkers, rescues, and the general public have been sharing on Facebook, Nextdoor and other websites FOR FREE. We are NETWORKING the product animal pounds are hosting (not promoting). I asked one employee what is the budget to advertise these animals. There is no budget. This plan LACKS how the animals are going to be adequately promoted to the general public beyond a static website. I believe the ultimate mistake of this MANAGED INTAKE SYSTEM will be they've REMOVED the compassionate animal networkers and community members from having unfettered access to ALL the pound animals. I pray I'm wrong but by limiting the unfettered access, we are going to be seeing our pounds BEGGING for people to come participate in their new MANAGED INTAKE SYSTEM. They are depending on the goodness of people in a dark, dark world instead of inviting in THE LIGHT.

I hope I'm wrong. I will keep you updated on our findings.

I don't hate the new system but without a marketing plan, my best guess is that NOTHING CHANGES and it actually gets worse because the community will no longer feel the URGENCY of ADOPTIONS and RESCUES.
