There is a stunning over 150 year old Blue Gum in Essex Street, Killara. It is heritage protected and has significant heritage and cultural value. Some tree hating residents of Essex House (cnr 702 Pacific Hwy, Killara) are pressuring Kuringai Council to kill the tree in order to increase their real estate prices. 

The issue is that the developer of their property did not plan correctly and sited the driveway too close to the tree. The residents just need to reconfigure their driveway at their cost and the Blue Gum can stay for another 150 years (hopefully longer!).
