The honorable Supreme Court of India recently directed the Centre to frame a policy on Menstrual Hygiene Management, notably, distribution of free Sanitary Pads and measures to manage Menstrual Waste, also calling to action, States and Union Territories. There is also a mention of creating awareness about MHM.
In light of this new development, it becomes all the more pertinent to introduce Menstrual Hygiene Management in school syllabus from Class 5. This will make Telangana a forerunner in this very vital step for the essential wellbeing of girls and thus, women. This will also play a vital role in dispelling myths and taboos around periods.
