Stop Rezoning in East Knox County by Fresenius USD Manufacturing, Inc.
Stop Rezoning in East Knox County by Fresenius USD Manufacturing, Inc.
The Issue
On May 10th, 2018 Knox County MPC passes rezoning requests by Fresenius USD Manufacturing, Inc. (5-B-18-SP & 5-F-18-RZ). This rezoning request is for a 57 acre tract located at the North side of Hammer Road near the intersection with Gov. John Sevier Highway.
Link to MPC rezoning proposal which include map of 57 acre tract. https://agenda.knoxmpc.org/2018/may2018/5-F-18-RZ.pdf
The proposed building that will go on this tract of land will exceed 600,000 square feet. This will be a logistics facility that will include 18 wheeler truck traffic at all times of day. There are a multitude of issues that arise with this facility being place right in the middle of multiple residential properties.
This rezoning goes beyond the initial impact of Fresenius getting the rezoning approved and building this enormous building, it sets a very scary precedence for MPC and County Commission to ignore Rural Preservation and their constituents and continue to rezone residential and agricultural properties to commercial while placing industrial complexes in backyards.
If you are a Knox County, TN resident please sign this petition to send to Knox County Commission. The request for rezoning approval will go before the commission on June 25th, 2018. We will present this petition to them at that time.
Thank you,
Three Rivers Preservation Association
