-With the publication of  novels "Oriënt-Express" in 1934 and "The Wedding of the Seven Gypsies" in 1939, A. den Doolaard generated an extraordinary interest in North Macedonia.

-For decades Dutch have been among the most numerous tourists in North Macedonia, and that lead to a wide cooperation between North Macedonia and the Netherlands in different fields. 

-During the 80's Ohrid (then part of Yugoslavia) was one of the most popular summer holiday destinations attracting more than 50.000 tourists per year.

-Last year more than 27.000 dutch holidaymakers visited Ohrid.

Due to the growing interest in discovering Macedonia's beauties and taking into account the strong bond between our two countries, I think the time has come for KLM,a  duch iconic brand and world's most popular legacy carrier, to commence flights from Amsterdam to Ohrid via Skopje.
