The Tipping Point and "What do the Kids Think?"

Yesterday and last night, the petition was gaining new signatures at a fast pace. From a temporary stall at just over 650 by this morning the petition has 725 signatories! I sense a tipping point has been reached!
Consider this. In a recent issue of the Kirkwood Call, the student newspaper, a poll was taken (see attached). I expect most Call readers are students. To say the least, the poll indicates that the readers are FAR from happy with the steps the District has taken to date.
A largely untapped source of interest, are students themselves. Many of you are parents of students. I hope you are having conversations about this with them of course. It is a very controversial topic, undoubtedly. If my kids were in high school at KHS I would not try to push them to sign this petition but I would make it known to them that I had signed it, if this is true, that it exists, I would show it to them or give them the link, talk it over if they had questions and ask them to consider it. Indications are, as mentioned above, that many of them are not satisfied with the school's response. Your child may or may not be. But the object here is to let them know that some parents are very concerned and are taking this action and others.
