GREENBELT RULES for one but not for others - Kirklees council planning
The picture shows a site in Mirfield that was perfect prime land for provision of 4 to 6 houses. Kirklees council denied planning permission, claiming it was Greenbelt. Even though they had lined both sides of the road with houses and builds already, Football pitch facilities & the site was an old railway, with finds found on the land, bottles & items in the ground from human activity & occupation.
Yet at a grade 1 listed heritage site, on greenbelt land at Castle hill, they allow a cafe. This shows the inconsistency and lack of care, ignorance even and a double standard of rules, especially for their contracted and awarded builders, in their strategy. this is part of the wider corruption network where a team unit operates and plays a game to get what they want out of the town, at a proffit and gain putting many locals at a loss.
I made a video for this, but it actually was unavoidable to go into the social and local economic issues. The video in this update was just intended to be a talk about Greenbelt permission within Kirklees and a comparison between how Kirklees Council treats different greenbelt unfairly and with bias. To builders and their affiliated favourites. Also a little bit about socio-political issues around housing, standard of living and heritage.
As i was recording the talk it developed into a quite heated and passionate lecture and i decided to just let go and allow it to flow naturally so that the issues presented themselves in a free creative way.
Afterwards it had me thinking about a current music artist called the Sleaford mods and their very similar cutting edge raw style. Language, presentation and delivery. I don't listen to this artist really i only became aware of them a few years ago
Its riddiculous that a petition about a hillfort would usually extend to such raw urban and wider social problems and issues in society. The same sort of issues addressed in these music videos. But that is just the unique situation surrounding the story and current situation of these sites. The mess. Urban sprawl.
I am sad that a simple petition about a hillfort that should be the subject matter and attention for walkers. English heritage enthusiasts, archaeologists, museum curators, the National trust, councils and walkers, history scholars and the odd bohemian festival pikey might come to be interested in or peruse....
And i would love it to be just a quaint little petition of nature and interesting ancient folklore.. but the hard reality is different..
Building and planning scandals, greenbelt regulation, imperialist motivations and organised planning and loss of heritage of native peoples.. are the tip of the iceberg that is behind serious environmental problems where Extinction Rebellion protesters are engaging on site in actions all over the world . War is breaking out.. like it did when Varley started excavating Castle Hill.. we have issues with Technology vs Nature. Peace vs noise and pollution. An ever growing population and immigration.
This is the reality. Sometimes we cant be the quaint well spoken professor or curator. Sometimes it gets passionate like parliamentary debate. And sometimes like the Sleaford mods we feel an outburst of emotion and creativity. Not anger not hatred but pure fact and focus on exactly what we believe is the problem and solution.
Therefore with this in mind.. I present my lecture on the Greenbelt issue in Kirklees and a little back story....

They cover very close to the bone social issues, the same type of issues that are surrounding and approaching our heritage sites... McDonalds restaurants.. "McFlurry" foods, Council housing, transport... This is why our sites are being impacted on.
