The Connection & Significance of J. J. R. Tolkein with the Huddersfield area & Sites

The Victoria Tower was Built around the Time that Tolkein was born and the Emley Moor Mast also was built not long from when he passed away. So Both Symbolically mark his lifetime in this world. The Tower being a prominent theme in his books. I draw comparisons to his work & the significance of him being stationed in the area to study the Yorkshire Dialect. His Work With Haigh, who was a Teacher at Huddersfield Technical College & his fondness of Ancient sites, Such as the Uffington White horse, Waylands smithy & Uffington camp fort. He remarks in a foreward in Haighs book on the Yorkshire Dialect. The Themes for Golem & other characters I propose are influences by our area among others. the Sheena-na-gig clutching the ring
