Stop Light the Night Fest from coming to Austin Texas

The Issue

There are many concerned about the impact of this Light the Night event coming to Austin TX, and the potential impact it may have on our wildlife. At this event lanterns will be set aflame and released into our skies. This could risk wildfires. Despite the fact that they are biodegradable, and depending on the materials they use, this could potentially take a while to decompose and still be considered "Matter Out Of Place." I have read many others comments and concerns, despite their claims that they will pick up each lantern after the event- this is unrealistic and this is recognized. As an Austinite and a lover of nature, I see this event to be an unnecessary risk. Please help me make it known that the majority of our people do not support this risk! Thank you!
