Press Statement by the National Christian Fellowship of Sri Lanka
National Christian Fellowship of Sri Lanka - an umbrella organization of indigenous Churches in Sri Lanka are sad, dismayed and grieved at what is being published in the electronic, print and social media pertaining to an Ambassador- at -large who has apparently fraudulently entangled in a Mafia
and also calls himself a prophet of God.
This so called prophet of God and faith healer who apparently has visited Sri Lanka even recently has strong affiliation to a so called prophet in Sri Lanka as well and 15 other countries.
Such dubious prophets, miracle workers, faith healers, prosperity gospel preachers exploiting the innocent believers has been a recent phenomenon in Sri Lanka and a menace to the true and sincere
Christian community at large.
Further they have been busy in discrediting a religion whose roots goes back to 6000 years and particularly 2000 years since the incarnation of Christ and is the belief system of the majority population in the world, even though it may be nominally.
Christ himself emphasized on his word - the truth-and establishing his Kingdom which are eternal rather than on the temporal things of life.
He himself was a prophet, a healer and a teacher so that people were astonished at His teaching, because His message had authority.
He lived a simple life, and emphasized that the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.
He came to serve and not to be served. He paid the ultimate price on a cross which the world commemorates even today and commanded his followers to take up their cross and follow the narrow way, as many are following the gate which is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many.
He was strong in his teaching when He warned his followers that many false prophets will arise and lead many astray.
Speaking of the end of the age, He said “For false Christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.
He stated in His great commission to make disciples and to “teach them to observe all that I have commanded you".
He also warned when He said “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves”.
He spoke of a judgment day where all have to give an account where “Not everyone who says to me, "Lord, Lord, will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.
On that day many will say to me "Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?‟ And then will I declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness”.
The great philosopher Paul, speaking about the end times says “The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with how Satan works. He will use all sorts of displays of power through signs and wonders that serve the lie”.
False miracle doers are as old as Pharaoh's time “Exodus 7: 10-12”.
We are reminded of well-known healer Jim Jones who committed suicide with his followers in the 1970's decade to the modern day of our Generation Alpha.
We at the National Christian Fellowship are shocked, and denounce, condemn and do not condone in any way such action and behavior by these so called false prophets, faith healers and preachers.
We, the National Christian Fellowship of Sri Lanka express our profound sorrow and regret to all who have been offended by these so called Prophets and faith healers, particularly those of other faiths
and immature Christians.
We call upon the Church at large to unite and to work together in unity specially in addressing wrong teachings in the body of Christ in Sri Lanka.
We believe that only such repentance would bring healing to the body of Christ and the Nation.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land”
- 2 Chronicles 7:14.
