In a video clip recently released, Uebert Angel compared the national Christian leadership in Sri Lanka to Judas Iscariot who betrayed Jesus. Angel condemned the Christian leadership in Sri Lanka and implied that "big bishops" were jealous of his spiritual son Jerome Fernando.

He implied that the Sri Lankan church leadership resented losing their congregation members to young pastors like Fernando due to the loss of income which followed the departure of rich members of the congregation.

We would like to alert the NCCSL, EASL and other Christian bodies to this completely unfair and unfounded statement made about the Christian Leadership in Sri Lanka.

We would like to ask Uebert Angel on which grounds he is making such statements and if he is referring to a particular individual or the entire Christian leadership?

Jerome Fernando and the Kings Revival Church fall under the umbrella of NCCSL Churches and as such, Kings Revival Church is duty-bound to honour rules and framework governing Christian churches in Sri Lanka.

Uebert Angel who has no connection with the Sri Lankan church cannot bring the national church leadership into disrepute in an internationally broadcast public interview by making such irresponsible statements.

Angel has now assumed a place of importance and control over Sri Lankan Christian activity, as a result of the delay of the NCCSL and EASL in seeing to it that Jerome Fernando ceases his controversial association and dangerous alliance with a man such as the internationally dis-reputed Angel who is now acting as a spokesman for the Sri Lankan church on international platforms, creating video messages in which he seriously calls into question, the ethics and morality of the highly respected and time-honoured office of the Bishops of Sri Lanka.

Will the Sri Lankan Body of Christ watch on after Uebert Angel has publicly slurred and slandered its most dignified and honourable representatives and Shepherds of its Church?
