Hello!
Four years on from the launch of this petition, I am very happy to share the news that a resolution has been reached, bringing this campaign to a successful close. King's College has entered into a partnership with Cambridge Past, Present & Future who are now managing the meadows.
CambridgePPF is a local charity dedicated to protecting and preserving some of Cambridge’s most loved landscapes. They have a strong track record of safeguarding iconic sites from development and demolition, keeping them in trust for the people of Cambridge. They own and manage Wandlebury Country Park, Coton Nature Reserve, Hinxton Watermill, Bourn Mill, and the Leper Chapel & Barnwell Meadows, ensuring these spaces remain protected for both nature and the community. Their experienced wardens and staff are committed to conservation and public access, and crucially, they have confirmed that no major changes will be made—only the continued care needed to keep the meadows healthy, accessible, and safe.
On a personal note, by sheer serendipity, I now work for CambridgePPF. When I accepted the role last year, I had no idea they were in the process of taking on this contract, but I couldn’t be happier to see this outcome.
As the weather warms up and we spend more time in the meadows, do look out for the friendly and hardworking team of CambridgePPF wardens. This landscape is important to all of us, and together, we can ensure it remains a sanctuary for both wildlife and people to enjoy for generations to come.
A huge thank you to everyone who supported this petition! Your support truly made a difference.
With best wishes, Camila
