Kimbertal Kennels’s response

Carefully breeding top quality dogs is not illegal or immoral. PA has strict size requirements to all animal enclosures and ours were beyond those sizes before they made them law. We take back dogs at any age, for any reason and find it a new home.
All our puppies are born in homes. We put females we want to keep for breeding out with local families on a one litter back contract. The mother and puppies are under the care of our veterinarian at our expense. After the one litter back the mother retires with her forever family, who raised her and belongs to them.
Our studs are top champion imports from all over the world. The studs are tested and certified clear of all genetic defects and the mothers are tested before being bred. We do not say that our dogs can not have a problem as they are living creatures and we are not God BUT, we stand behind our dogs and often go beyond our guarantee and replace dogs not covered. We, unfortunately, do not have any control over vet bills and as any doglover will attest to, one trip to the ER with your pet often costs thousands in a matter of minutes. We try and help anyone contacting the kennel defray these expenses but laws are continually added that makes it even illegal for us to give a past customer an expensive medication prescibed by their vet.
We cook our dogs chicken, eggs and rice daily as since the canned dog food recall we do not feed canned foods with unknown additives. We feed a dry food made in PA. All our kennel inspections and AKC inspections are good. The records are on the internet as per the sunshine law. There is no cruelty or abuse here.
We try and guide people on how to have a longer life from their pets. We give them brochures on not giving yearly boosters and the problems caused by neutering young dogs. (All informationis backed by veterinary articles.)
We have won in court a previous case where we were incorrectly called a puppymill. The judge felt that the term was linked to a mental image of dirt, cruelty, wire cages and dogs being bred over and over and we did not fit that profile. We breed dogs are not a puppymill.
Our kennel is open six days a week and no appointments are necessary to stop in at the kennel. Before anyone blindly signs a petition, due to a kneejerk reaction to a term, they should see what they are complaining about. www.kimbertal.com is our website or feel free to stop out. I did not see any names, puppy info or real vet information so I can not comment on her case but if she called to complain we would have offered her a choice of other puppies. All our puppies are handled daily while at the kennel, fecal sampled, and gone over by our vets but again things develop after they leave here. We have been here 50 years and do not advertise because 99% of our customers are repeat or referral. These customers include, policemen, Veterinarians, AKC judges, veterans looking for service dogs and more importantly families, many of which grew up themselves with a Kimbertal doberman or rottweiler.
