A PLEDGE BY THE STUDENTS OF LIU ❖ Drastic times call for drastic measures.

WE THE STUDENTS OF LIU BROOKLYN DO NOTE AND PLEDGE THAT:

WHEREAS WE pay for a particular caliber of Education, but the University is going back on the promise made by that transaction, and

WHEREAS WE must stand together as a united front – a Student Coalition – and advocate for the immediate end to the Lock Out, and

WHEREAS President Cline has been trying to buy time, after having threatened the faculty and jeopardizing the well-being of their families with his hostile act, and

WHEREAS President Cline now expects to threaten us with the add/drop period, which initially lasted for two weeks without students being subjected to a penalty, but has now been reduced to one week, which ends on Tuesday 13 September at 11:59 pm, and

WHEREAS WE see her and her destructive actions as a threat to our education and our ability to afford the education for which we have been struggling to pay, and

WHEREAS WE THE STUDENTS intend to rise to the occasion in response, and

WHEREAS WE are the lifeblood of the university’s existence, and

WHEREAS WE students are worth at least $20,000 individually to the University each semester, and

WHEREAS WE are the ones who provide President Cline with paychecks while she denies a fair negotiation for OUR educators, and

WHEREAS no university can function without its student body, and

WHEREAS the political power rests in the hands of a united Student Coalition,

NOW, THEREFORE, the LIUSC demands that the University terminate the lockout by the close of the 5:00 pm negotiations with LIUFF on Monday 12 September and:

WE CALL UPON ALL LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY STUDENTS TO DROP THEIR CLASSES if the lockout is not brought to an immediate end after negotiations with LIUFF on Monday, 12 September 2016.
