GoDaddy decided today not to run controversial Super Bowl ad after preview viewers express strong emotional response. I applaud GoDaddy’s immediate action and accountability. I wish that Kijiji Canada had such leadership! As long as Kijiji knows that animals with health problems (perhaps because of the conditions under which they are raised and bred) are being sold on their site, and as long as they know that users are being cheated by unethical animal breeders on their site, Kijiji should not be selling animals. If Kijiji really cared about animal welfare and were responsible enough to protect their users, Kijiji would stop selling animals for profits and instead help thousands of friendly and healthy pets waiting in shelters and in registered rescue groups across Canada to get adopted. As the leader of classifieds sites in Canada, Kijiji should set an example and ban pet sales on your website, sending the message that animals should not be sold as just another item via classified ads. 73, 174 petition supporters are urging you to stop selling animals and instead promote only pet adoption on your site.
