Apart from the cruel and irresponsible practices that the buyers are supporting, this really is a case of "buyer beware". When I perused the listings, I discovered that suddenly almost every animal is "hypoallergenic" as determined by the seller. Not so! Of the "purebred" puppies & kittens I've seen via Kijiji, not a single one has had appropriate papers with breeder registration or pedigree. Not a one has had the breed-specific genetic screening that the good breeders provide. Not a one has been vet-checked. Most have been erroneously told that the animal has had appropriate medical care. Many of the animals are not even close in appearance to what the purebred would be! Most of them have had medical and/or behaviour problems. All of them cost WAY too much money to purchase. ALL of them caused yet another shelter animal to not have a home." [continue]
