While pet food, animal welfare, the import and export of pets, veterinary services, and pet insurance are all subject to regulation, the primary source of the pet industry—breeders—remains largely unregulated.

Until all Canadian provinces implement breeder regulations, classified sites like Kijiji will continue to facilitate animal sales through their platforms. For this reason, I am including Honourable Lana Popham, British Columbia Minister of Agriculture and Food, as a key decision maker in my petition, given her authority to address this issue.
