Petition updateKijiji Canada: Stop puppy mills and prohibit the sale of household pets @KijijiVisa, Mastercard and PayPal: What they had to say

Blatantly, Kijiji does not carefully review pets ads and ensure compliance with their posting policies and Canadian laws BEFORE they go live.

In their attempts to weed out illegal material, Visa, Mastercard and PayPal implemented policies that severely restricted adult content websites. Therefore, I asked Visa, Mastercard and PayPal to take a stand to protect animals and consumers, too. After all, Kijiji listing pet fees and ads promotion can be paid using payment methods like Mastercard, Visa and PayPal.

Visa responded: "Visa takes alerts related to illegal activity very seriously and does not tolerate the use of our network for transactions related to such activity. Visa will investigate your allegations per our established process. Concurrently, Visa strongly recommends that your organization report any suspected incidents of illegal activity to the appropriate law enforcement body in your jurisdiction."

Mastercard and PayPal did not address the issue.

Let's contact Mastercard and PayPal and ask them why they don't want to address it!

In Canada, Canadian law dictates that if a dog is sold as a purebred, registration papers must be provided, and the breeder must provide them at no additional cost. It is illegal to sell a purebred dog without papers.

On April 17, 2023, the Ontario Court convicted three individuals for capturing or taking, selling on the classified site Kijiji, and buying a living member of a Species at Risk in Ontario, violating the Endangered Species Act.

On July 12, 2023, the Ontario Court convicted an individual for offering to sell a living member of a Species at Risk in Ontario on two occasions on Kijiji, violating the Endangered Species Act.
