Petition updateKijiji Canada: Stop puppy mills and prohibit the sale of household pets @KijijiCan @Kijiji stop the commercial sale of animals on its site? It wouldn't be that difficult.

123,800 people are asking Kijiji Canada to sell only animals sourced from shelters and animal rescue organizations, to exclude commercial breeders from its site, and to help families carefully rehome their pets to ensure their future well-being. Secondhand marketplaces Used.ca, BuySellTrade.ca, letgoCanada and Craigslist do not allow profiting from the commercial sale of animals on their sites.
Too many people are misled by unethical animal breeders on Kijiji and too many animals with health problems, often because of the conditions under which they are raised and bred, are sold on this site. Moreover, Kijiji is unable to distinguish between reputable and certified breeders and those simply profiting from the sale of animals, without regard to their welfare.
On the other hand, there are simply too many healthy and friendly animals waiting in shelters and rescue groups to be adopted.
But you, Mr. McKenzie, as General Manager of Kijiji, you can change all that.
And it wouldn't be that difficult.
From my conversation with Mr. Ed Powers, VP of Petfinder Business Planning & Operations, syndication of adoptable pet data is one of the strategies already employed by Kijiji towards encouraging pet adoption and helping end the euthanasia of adoptable pets. This partnership allows Kijiji to have a number of shelter pets from Petfinder pushed to its site automatically. Kijiji Canada can indeed easily sell only animals sourced from shelters and rescue organizations and therefore exclude commercial breeders from its site.
And as to help families carefully rehome their pets to ensure their future well-being, we can easily collaborate on this issue. Don’t forget that 31 animal welfare organizations, including the Humane Society International – Canada, the Winnipeg Humane Society, the Montreal SPCA, Zoocheck Canada, and the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies, a national organization representing 46 humane societies and SPCAs in Canada, support this campaign.
So, Mr. McKenzie, what are you waiting for?

It's time! Send a tweet at Mr. Matthew McKenzie, General Manager of Kijiji, at @mattmckenzi or send him an email at kijijisupport@kijiji.ca to ask him to meet with me.
I need as many of you to participate as possible in order to get Kijiji General Manager’s attention. It's been a long campaign. Thank you for staying with me. We've made progress and I know we can win this for the animals.
Onward,
B.
